Millions of Eligible People Don't Get Food Stamps

More than 3 million needy people in big cities could be getting food stamps but don't for a variety of reasons, an anti-hunger group says (see story in CNN).

That translates to $2.1 billion in unused food stamps, the Food Research and Action Center said in a report released Wednesday, Sep 28, 2005.

The Food Stamp Program is a critically important but very underutilized resource for urban America, according to the new Food Research and Action Center (FRAC) report, “Food Stamp Access in Urban America: A City-by-City Snapshot” (see full report as PDF file). The FRAC report analyzes food stamp usage and the incidence of hunger and poverty in 25 of America’s largest cities, spread out over 20 states and the District of Columbia.

money for school

I'm looking for scholarships, grants, contests- anything to help pay for school costs. I'm an adult female going back to school to earn a degree as a chef. I'm also in need of a laptop and any books on nutrition, organic and health foods.

Financial grant to grow my business

I have been operating my home based business here in Hawaii for the last one and a half years.  I am passionate about the health and nutrition industry as I see great potential in my ability to contribute to the whole while becoming financially sound.
Financially the challenges have been overwhelming as I use my credit card to cover expenses and now find myself on the verge of bankruptcy.
I need a grant to pay for business expenses while I grow the business.

Financial Aid Needed to Pursue Graduate Degree in Clinical Nutrition

Hello, everyone.  I am a student who has just begun a graduate program in Clinical Nutrition.  I have lived on my own since the age of 18 and was employed at 2 places while attending Undergraduate school full-time.  I understand the need for education especially in specific areas such as Health Science.  This is why I chose Clinical Nutrition...to help others, like some of my family members with Diabetes.  I have a strong desire to work with Diabetes patients and others who are fighting a disease that can be cured or managed by nutrition.  I am currently employed at a wellness company where my salary does not meet the financial need that I have to continue pursuing my graduate degree.  I would like to locate any type of grants or scholarships that will allow me to pay tuition without becoming thousands of dollars in debt with loans.  The country has enough debt, and we need programs for strong-willed individuals that can obtain higher education without loan debt to better enable those individuals to help others.

Help with food and rent

I recently lost my job, and I am working part time while I am in the process of searching for another job.  I cannot make rent, pay by bills, or put gas in my car or buy food.  I am not sure where I can help at least temporiarly until I get myself together.  Is there anyway I can at least get help with some of the above need.
